Arts organizations: Get emergency planning assistance
To help struggling nonprofit arts organizations around the country, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced on Tuesday that it would offer free emergency planning assistance through a special Web site, artsincrisis.org. Through the program, arts organizations can seek advice on fund-raising, budgeting, marketing and other areas. Companies that submit online requests for assistance will receive responses through e-mail, phone calls, live Web chats or in-person visits.

ALERT! Senate excludes arts organizations from receiving economic stimulus funds >
On February 6, the Senate passed the Coburn Amendment to the economic recovery bill. It reads: “None of the amounts appropriated or otherwise made available by this Act may be used for any ... community park, museum, theater, [or] art center...”  If this amendment language is included in the final conference version of this legislation, many arts groups will be prevented from receiving economic recovery funds from any portion of this specific stimulus bill.  Help us act now to communicate the role that nonprofit arts organizations and artists play in the nation’s economy and workforce. The Arts as Economic Stimulus
Americans for the Arts — along with arts organizations and individual artists across the country — are calling on Congress and the Obama Administration to take action that will make the arts a driver of economic recovery. The American Recovery and Reinvestment bill, approved last week by the House Appropriations Committee, includes a $50 million supplement for the National Endowment for the Arts. PLEASE SEE the articles and resources below to help advance this important issue.
